North America (East Coast of Modern Day America):
Prior to the English takeover of the East coast of modern day America, the Native Americans controlled the lands in tribes. Since these tribes were governed separately, and acted separately it was easier for the English to conquer America with their guns and other improved weapons over those of the crude weapons of the natives. The Native Americans ruled with a chieftain system, and these chiefs acted for their tribes.
North America (Modern Day Canada):
Modern day Canada was ruled by Native Americans before the European. The Inuits had the strongest control, but the area was still split into separate tribes like that of the tribes of modern day America.

Africa:
Africa was also controlled by many different tribes, and kingdoms
such as the Kongo Kingdom and the Great Zimbabwe Empire. The leaders of these states would actually supply the Europeans with slaves for weapons in return such as firearms.
